Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Semarang Port to Borobudur Tour
Our journey started with an early morning pickup at Semarang Cruise Port shortly after the cruise ship arrived. After meeting and gathering all participants, our team immediately departed for Borobudur Temple, located around 130 kilometers from Semarang. The drive takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours through beautiful countryside landscapes and traditional Javanese villages.
Upon arrival at Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the world, our guests received their entrance tickets before meeting a local licensed guide who accompanied them during the temple exploration. The guide explained the fascinating history and philosophy of Borobudur, starting from the lower level which symbolizes the world of desire, continuing to the middle levels featuring hundreds of detailed Buddhist relief panels telling stories of Buddha’s life and teachings.
The tour then continued to the upper circular platforms, where visitors could admire the iconic 72 stupas surrounding the main stupa at the top of the temple. Inside each perforated stupa sits a Buddha statue, creating one of the most impressive cultural and spiritual monuments in Southeast Asia.
After completing the Borobudur Temple tour, we continued the journey by visiting two smaller but historically important Buddhist temples located nearby: Pawon Temple and Mendut Temple. Both temples are believed to have a strong spiritual connection with Borobudur and are often included as part of the Borobudur heritage route.
For lunch, we stopped at a clean and hygienic local restaurant serving authentic Indonesian cuisine, allowing guests to experience the rich flavors of traditional Javanese food.
Make the most of your remaining time by visiting a local house where civet coffee is produced — a brew believed to have a smoother, less bitter taste. You can also explore traditional batik, the handmade and culturally significant cloth created through an ancient wax-resist process, or discover silver home industries, small family-run workshops where visitors can watch artisans craft and purchase beautiful silver items.
In the afternoon, the tour concluded with a comfortable transfer to the hotel in Yogyakarta City, where the guests stayed overnight before continuing their Prambanan Temple tour on the following day. We have chosen the renowned five-star Hotel Royal Ambarukmo to offer our guests unmatched comfort and sophistication. With its refined ambiance, attentive service, and world-class amenities, every moment of your stay is crafted to be truly memorable.

On the second day, the journey continued with another fascinating temple exploration in Yogyakarta. After breakfast at the hotel, at around 08:00 AM, our guests departed for Prambanan Temple, located only a short drive from the hotel area.
Arriving at Prambanan, you are immediately struck by the grandeur of Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex. The towering spires rise dramatically against the sky, a breathtaking introduction to one of Southeast Asia’s most impressive heritage sites.
You begin your walk through the main courtyard, where the three majestic temples dedicated to Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu dominate the landscape. Each temple tells its own story, with intricate carvings and towering architecture that reflect centuries of devotion.
In front of each main temple, you notice the smaller companion shrines dedicated to the sacred vehicles of the gods — Nandi the bull for Shiva, Hamsa the swan for Brahma, and Garuda the eagle for Vishnu. These details add depth to the spiritual symbolism of the complex.
As you explore further, you pass by the remains of more than 400 smaller temples, many still under restoration. The atmosphere is a blend of awe and serenity, as history and preservation come together in this sacred space.
Finally, you pause to take in the panoramic view: the harmony of architecture, mythology, and devotion makes Prambanan not just a temple, but a living testament to Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
During the temple exploration, our guests enjoyed walking through the grand stone corridors while observing the beautiful Ramayana relief carvings that tell the story of the famous Hindu epic. The detailed carvings and majestic architecture make Prambanan one of the highlights of any Java cultural tour.
After exploring Prambanan Temple, the tour continued to nearby Sewu Temple, located within the same archaeological park area. Despite its name meaning “one thousand temples,” Sewu is actually the second largest Buddhist temple complex in Indonesia after Borobudur. The peaceful atmosphere and unique Buddhist architecture provide a beautiful contrast to the grandeur of Prambanan.
For lunch, we stopped at a clean and hygienic local restaurant serving authentic Indonesian cuisine, allowing guests to experience the rich flavors of traditional Javanese food.
As there was still enough time before returning to the cruise port, we continued the trip with a visit to Plaosan Temple, a beautiful Buddhist monastery complex located not far from the restaurant. Plaosan Temple is well known for its elegant architecture and its historical connection between Hindu and Buddhist cultures during ancient Java kingdoms.
At around 2:00 PM, we began the return journey to Semarang Cruise Port via the toll road for a faster and more comfortable drive. Our team successfully arrived at Semarang Port around 4:00 PM, perfectly timed before the cruise ship departure.
