Niagara of Java Island
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, often called the “Niagara of Java Island”, is one of East Java’s most spectacular natural wonders. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Semeru—the tallest peak in Java and an active volcano—this curtain-shaped waterfall is fed by the Glidik River flowing down from Semeru. Its name, Tumpak Sewu, means “a thousand waterfalls” in Javanese, perfectly describing the mesmerizing sight of countless cascades plunging side by side in a semi-circular wall of water. Surrounded by lush cliffs and tropical greenery, Tumpak Sewu offers visitors an unforgettable blend of raw power and serene beauty, making it a must-see destination that rivals the grandeur of Niagara, right here in Java.
